Standing Firm

What does “standing firm” mean? It means standing your ground, refusing to abandon your beliefs, take a firm stand, and refuse to budge or be moved… I could go on with the meanings but I trust you get the picture. It is a fairly straight forward statement. In times of trouble it can be difficult to stand your ground. Fear and anxiety knock on your door and threaten to derail your faith. Challenges can seem so HUGE that you don’t know how you are going to face them. Stepping out in faith or standing in faith at this point seems impossible, feels like a waste of time. You feel like giving up, helpless even. But I urge you not to lose your faith. Exodus 14:13 “Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.” Today may not be TODAY, but your today is coming! Your deliverance is coming! Refuse to be shaken out of your faith…stand firm! Do not lose faith!

1 Corinthians 16:13 Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong.

So You Have The Tools For Battle!!

So you have all the right tools for battle!

Following on the last article about faith, I asked myself why I let my fear, emotions and body dictate to me. Why must I be ruled by my fears and anxiety to a point where I had to question my faith, question my Creator? I allowed myself to be controlled by elements that shouldn’t have a say in my life! Lord forgive me!!

So I have the Word in me, I have God’s truths in me, I have the right tools for my healing but why did I fail to use them? How did I fail to use my battle weapons during my war with sickness? The only answer I can give is I allowed myself to be derailed. I failed to stand!

If you are like me, I would like to ask you to take some time and ask yourself why you are not using your weapons? Why are they gathering dust in storage? Take them out and use them!! Believe it or not, the enemy is well prepared for battle. Don’t give him the unnecessary advantage. Don’t allow him to take over! Take out your weapons and fight!!

Ephesians 6:11-18 KJV
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

I thank God for his mercies, they are new each morning. I thank God I am able to get up, dust myself off and start again!

Proverbs 24:16 KJV
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

Staying In Faith

Staying Positive, Staying in the Word

For the last couple of months I haven’t been feeling well, it’s been one ailment after the other. I came from a place of great health, running everyday, to a place of being sick everyday. I have lost weight and am still fighting off sickness, happy to say the worst is over. Through all this my faith has been tested!

I have battled with my faith, battled to stay in the Word, battled to stay strong in the Word! I can truly say my faith was shaken. I prayed everyday but wasn’t seeing results. I was moving between good days and bad days. I was only happy at night when sleeping, happy to hang up the sickness for the night. During the day I battled to stay positive. It was a terrible rough patch for me! I realised that my faith only surfaced on good days but I abandoned it during bad days.

I read stories of Jesus healing people, telling them “your faith has made you well”, yet my faith wasn’t making me well. I almost lost my way, almost lost my faith in the one who created me. All I needed was a little bit more patience, a little bit more faith. I was tried and tested. I have won the battle and i maintained my faith.

No matter what you are going through, stay in faith. God will carry you through. He loves you and will never forsake you.

Mark 11:22 NLT

Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God.

Random Thoughts…. Disappointment

My posts always start out with almost the same statement..it’s been a while since I wrote something! Nothing different about today, its been a while since I wrote. I promised myself I would write once a week but so far I haven’t stuck to that promise. Resolutions/Goals huh!! I hope to do better.

My post today is about disappointment. How do you deal with it? You have been let down by people or circumstances..how do you move on? Do you pretend it never happened? Do you make a note in your diary to never go down that road again? How did you get on that road in the first place? Maybe you placed too much trust in that person or object. Sometimes I do that. I get my hopes up high or I trust in people too much and I end up disappointed and frustrated. But what if it’s family? The people you care about the most. All I can say is it hurts! But I have to move on right. I have to get up on my feet, forgive, learn from it and move on! That’s the only way to go. I’m too young to have gray hairs!!

Hebrews 13:1-2 ASV
Let love of the brethren continue. Forget not to show love unto strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Psalm 42:11 ASV
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.

Don’t just talk about it, be about it!!

It’s the new year and with it comes resolutions, promises usually of change to self and others. It’s the time we take out our notebooks and start writing down stuff we want to change and do differently.

I am guilty of making resolutions/promises which I break before the year is out. This year I am determined to do things differently. Here is how I’m going to do things this year :

1. Write down reasonable resolutions.

2. Find accountability partners.

3. Make them aware of my resolutions.

4. Give my accountability partners permission to challenge me when I break my resolutions.

Maybe I should call them goals? Whatever they are, I am determined to stick to them this new year. I’m done being all talk and no action!

Ecclesiastes 11:4 NKJV He who observes the wind will not sow, And he who regards the clouds will not reap.

Proverbs 14:23 NKJV In all labor there is profit, But idle chatter leads only to poverty.

As the song goes, don’t just talk about it, be about it!!

Happy new year!! 🎉🎊

Random Thoughts…. Get Up!!

Watching my daughter grow up every day is a rewarding and joyous experience. It seems everyday she has something new going on that always amazes me. The joys of motherhood! 😁.

As my daughter was learning to stand and walk I must have aged a thousand years! :D. I felt very proud of her when she learnt to stand and when she took her first steps. But the road to those milestones wasn’t smooth! I don’t know how many times she fell and hurt herself. Just this morning she fell and hit her head…so many tears! It isn’t easy to watch your baby go through this, you just want to protect them from the pain. Fortunately, the tears shed are only for a moment. After falling, hurting herself, crying, she gets up and starts again!

She wouldn’t, infact we all wouldn’t be able to stand and walk by ourselves if we hadn’t pushed on as babies. So it is in our adult lives. Things or people or situations we find ourselves in knock us down. We’re hurt, we cry, we want to give up… but let’s not give in.

Get up when you fall or are knocked down. Keep pushing on! You are stronger than you think! You are stronger than what people think.

Proverbs 24:16 NKJV

For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

I Corinthians 16:13 NKJV

Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
